Annaleah (…Leah for short) and Alex… boy what a couple. Some couples make my job so much fun, relaxing and a truly wonderful experience. This most definitely would be one of them. They both are so easy going, simple and a pleasure to be around. In a couple weeks I get to capture their beautiful wedding. We are all excited after finished all the plans for their big day this week together and after viewing their gorgeous engagement photos at their reveal session!
The joy and celebration of their engagement though was incredible. We met at Leah’s family cabin up on Mt. Hood. We were able to venture around the area near the cabin, all where Alex and Leah would hang out in high school during the weekends. From a local bridge nearby and golf course up the road, they would take walks together and with friends to these places. The sentimental value of the area was just filled with so many memories. We even grabbed some pizza at the local pizza place they loved nearby.
Both Alex and Leah braved the cold for some snowy cabin photos up at Timberline Lodge after lunch. I work to prepare for all my clients and bring things needed for the session, just in case. I brought umbrellas, an extra pair of snow boots for Leah to walk around in and a poofy snow jacket for her too. You never know how prepared a client is for the weather. Let me tell you… boy was she thankful. Especially in her killer outfit that was bare skin cold!
It has been a dream to do photos on Mt. Hood at Timberline Lodge. Ever since I visited the lodge for the first time, which was only about 3 years ago. I know, I know… growing up here in Oregon, you are probably thinking…. how have you not been to Timberline Lodge for 30 years of living in Oregon. I am 30 now and had a few years in Cali for College… so around 27 was when I finally visited Timberline with my husbands family. In any case, who doesn’t love some BEAUTIFUL mountain photos, covered in snow? We even caught a moment when the snow started falling again before it cleared up. It was breathtaking. Almost like God was performing for us to capture photos just at the right time with snow falling, sun breaks, no rain and allowing us to show off the beauty that is here in the Pacific Northwest. I will for sure want to try and capture some during the summer months when I have found some beautiful areas doing downhill mountain biking trails there also. So hopefully more to come.
Another sweet part about my time with Alex and Leah was just getting to know them more. Spending time together, talking, hanging out as we captured photos and explored different locations around their families cabin. They began to loosen up after a while, feel more comfortable and confident together as they posed and ran around having fun with the different things I would have them do.
At the end Leah said, ” I definitely feel more comfortable and confident in how our wedding day will be. I feel like I can relax now and just enjoy my day vs. worry about being photographed and trying to figure out how to pose”. Who doesn’t want to hear those sweet words? What a true blessing. It makes me feel so good to know they can trust me and rely on me to capture their beautiful day, while they get to sit back and enjoy each other.
Two weeks will be here before you know it.
